"arum SEATRil vEzhti kaNdAi' are the words from the earlier pAsuram. EmperumAn asks AzvAr'
"AzvAr! what do you want me to do?"
AzvAr replies:' Please remove the obstacles and grant me kainkaryam at Your divine feet.
puLLin vAi piLandhAi marudhidai pOyinAi erudhEZh adartha:- AzvAr recalls the period when EmperumAn had removed the obstacles .
Three episodes are remembered
puLLin vAi piLandhAi
demolition of bakAsura who came in the form of a bird -puL
marudidai pOYinAi
breaking of yamaLArjunA -the two great trees
erudhEzh adartha
Controlled the seven bulls by jumping on them.
en kaLLa mAyavanEA:- Possessing Wonderful deeds and revealing them to me (to AzvAr)
karu mANikka chudarEa:- Removing the obstacles of Nappinnai pirATTi and also showing YOur divine thirumEani.
theLLiyAr nAm thirunAnmaRaikaL vallavar :- The inhabitants of Srivaramangala nagar.
Those who possess immense knowledge, shed their efforts and look upon EmperumAn for their salvation.
Does it mean that if one gets knowledge they have to shed the efforts?
In fact, this is the manifestation of the knowledge.
This is analagous to SEthA pirATTi's inaction in AsOKa vanam or
Otherwise
(Note 1)
Despite succumbing to sufferings from Him reposing utmost confidence in Him alone.
This is analagous to a child looking upon the mother who torments.
Thiru nAn maraikaL vallAR: though one hundred thousand lines are written, those who grasp the very essence - the thirmanthram.
mali thaN sirivara mangai: EmperumAn who is here in such a pleasant and divine place;
enakku vuyyum ARu aruLAi:
Appealing for kainkaryam at EmperumAn's divine feet.
In fact, for AzvAr vuigai -salvation and kainkaryam are not two separate things (note 2)
NOTES:
1.The undaunted faith in EmperumAn of the inhabitants of this divya dEsam is explained on two counts.
a. Though they possess immense knowledge, they look upon EmperumAn for His efforts to help them.this is likened to SethA pirATti in AsOka vanam and
b. Even in circumstances where EmperumAn seem to be inflicting sufferings, looking upon Him like a crying child looking up at its mother.
2. AzvAr asks way to sustain and survive. How does it mean kainkaryam-Service at EmperumAn's divine feet?
Sri NampiLLai explains this clearly by stating that for AzvAr survival and kainkaryam are not different but in fact service at the divine feet of the Lord is his very survival.
